SERVING STARS NJTL will offer free/low cost Tennis, athlete training, life and academic skill programming to young people from Lawrence.


SERVING STARS is a program for Lawrence youth that focuses on tennis development, educational enrichment and health and wellness training to help each reach their maximum potential.

SERVING STAR’S is an inclusive, safe environment, that promotes health, character development and academic development through the game of tennis.  



SERVING STARS offers an inclusive, safe place for young people from Lawrence to imagine and achieve their individual academic, athletic and life goals.  The program combines the joy of playing tennis with expert health and wellness training, as well as education enrichment to help each child reach his or her maximum potential.  SERVING STARS is committed to nurturing leadership skills, improving physical health, and stimulating a desire to give back to the City of Lawrence.


In 1969, Arthur Ashe created the National Junior Tennis League as a way to gain and hold the attention of young people, with the hope of teaching them the importance of character, getting an education and becoming productive citizens. 

Today, the now name National Junior Tennis and Learning network features more than 250 nonprofit youth development organizations that offer free or low-cost tennis and education programming to over 160,000 under-resourced youth each year.


WHO:  Open to Lawrence students currently enrolled in either 2nd and 3rd grade or 5th and 6th grade.  No tennis experience required. 

WHAT:  Tennis Instruction, Fitness and Conditioning Sessions, Nutritional Education, Tutoring and Academic Support, and Enrichment programs 

WHEN:  October 2020 – May 2021 Program runs three days a week.  Tuesday through Thursday 3:30-6:30pm

Child Safety – COVID-19 The Serving Stars program will be strictly following and enforcing guidelines established by the USTA “Safe Play Program” that are based on State, Federal and CDC issued guidelines.  Guidelines will be reviewed thoroughly with parents and children prior to entering the program.
